Foster High School has a reputation in the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District as one of the area’s top recognized schools. The administration and faculty focus on the needs of each student to prepare them for the future. Adam Hernandez is a senior who has excelled in academics and sports and has an impressive high school resumé.

Adam became a member of the varsity wrestling team as a freshman. The team qualified in regional and placed second in district during his sophomore and junior years. He was co-captain last year and is captain this year. Scholastic wrestling is the sixth most popular sport among high school boys. Adam said, “The elation of winning a match and gaining self-confidence makes all of the hard work worthwhile. It also builds character and a disciplined work ethic.” When Adam is not wrestling for the high school, he is also a member of the Fort Bend wrestling club, and he took classes in kickboxing and jiu-jitsu at Gracie Barra in Katy as a freshman and sophomore where he will be competing at the national level this summer.

Academically, Adam has taken Advanced Placement (AP) classes since sophomore year. His favorite subjects are math and science. His favorite teacher is Jacob Nowaczewski, who taught Adam AP Chemistry. Although challenging, Nowaczewski instructed this subject in such a way it stuck in Adam’s head with complete comprehension. He also has the student’s best interest in mind, helping them whenever he can.

Adam was on the “A” Honor Roll as a sophomore and junior and placed seventh in his senior class. One value that he feels is important is honesty. “The key to doing anything is to be honest with yourself and to take every opportunity given to you, and use it to learn and improve to the best of your ability.”
