H‑E‑B Brings Holiday Meal and Good Cheer with Feast of Sharing to Local Seniors

On December 4th, 2018, H-E-B presented their Feast of Sharing at Fort Bend Seniors (FBS) Meals on Wheels for nearly 200 seniors across Fort Bend and Waller counties. The celebration was held at R.L. “Bud” O’Shieles Community Center at 1330 Band Road in Rosenberg from 10 am-12:30 pm.

“The holiday season can be a difficult time for anyone, especially for seniors living alone or without family or loved ones,” said Manuela Arroyos, CEO of FBS. “But with the help of community-oriented businesses like H-E-B, FBS can offer holiday celebrations and treats to show the community’s older adults how much they are still cared for. FBS Meals on Wheels program is thankful for their support.”

H-E-B and their professional chefs served seniors age 60 and older a holiday-themed meal and celebrated the season with music and bingo and fun bingo prizes donated by H-E-B and local supporters. The holiday dinner included turkey, green bean casserole, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls and pie. H-E-B is committed to fighting hunger and will visit communities all over Texas to provide more than 250,000 holiday meals and plenty of good cheer this holiday season.

“Feast of Sharing is a key component in H-E-B’s year-round effort to combat hunger throughout Texas and Mexico,” said Martha Barrera, H-E-B Public Affairs Houston “It is one of the many ways H-E-B takes an active role in our local communities. Each year, we look forward to serving communities, like Fort Bend, and expressing our gratitude by giving back during the holiday season.”

In Fort Bend County, Crystal Moya, H-E-B Area Community Coordinator, organizes three stores as they adopt seniors for the holiday through the FBS Secret Santa to Seniors program each year. Through her efforts, H-E-B staff adopted 75 local homebound seniors in need and gave them gifts, such as blankets, toiletries, gift cards and more this year.
