A few of my favs from the DT.
Now y’all I love a good deal. I’m all about the hunt, the find, the procurement. It’s my spiritual gift.
I have my fav hunting grounds, and I consistently add to the list when a new find meets my criteria. I will drive out of my way and use a quarter tank of high dollar gas on the hunt. It works. It’s girl math.
One of my consistent retail establishments to scavenger is the Dollar Tree. Not to be confused with Dollar General or Family Dollar. I know it’s bewildering – the similarity in the names. They do this on purpose.
Now I will say that Dollar General does have good specials on soft drinks. I can fill up my trunk with Diet Coke at a significant savings using their online coupons – so there’s that.
But Dollar Tree is my jam. You can get great products and dups there, if you know what you’re doing. A $20 haul can fill up a bag. I love a full bag.
Here are some of my favs that are good quality and will save you a buck.
Global Beauty Care Products: One of my favs is their makeup remover towelettes. They come in packs of 25, work very well and are so much more reasonable than even the generic brands at drug stores. They also have the little hand sanitizers for your purse in various scents and colors.
B Pure Bronzer Drop: I’m obsessed! These hydrating bronzer drops make you look sun-kissed without the exposure or burn. They have Shea Butter and Vitamin E. Best look ever for the summer!
L.A. Colors Dual Lipliner: These come with a built-in sharpener in great colors, last and look amazing when you top with some clear or frosty lip gloss.
Marie Claire Eyeshadow: These come in small pallets perfect for travel or to keep in your purse. I like the “Smokey Delight” color, because, well, I’m a delight if not somewhat smokey.
Albanese World’s Best Gummies: Better than Hairbo – I promise! I buy these small packages for Mr. Kaminski because I can give him an entire packet and there’s only 200 calories in the smaller portion. Yes, I am mitigating the sweet issue by providing a tiny portion. And yes, Dollar Tree or DT, has been criticized for their smaller packages on snack items. I call it a win – save both money and calories.
Hair Clips: I go through hair clips like I go through Diet Coke. A holiday staple in our family is to fill up my Christmas stocking with hair clips, because I break them, frequently. Y’all have seen my hair. It’s a dense, treacherous jungle requiring taming on the daily.
Holiday Décor: DT goes all out for holidays, and you can typically pick up some super cute holiday décor on the cheap.
Now DT prices are $1.50? Where’s the truth in advertising there? I think they need to change their name to A Dollar Fifty Tree.
So, here’s the rub with my fav, the DT. Y’all knew there was one. A couple of years ago, prices increased from $1 to $1.25. Covid, supply chain, understaffed – blah, blah, blah – was the excuse. I protested but still scavenged.
When I went to DT just last week, guess what? Now prices are at a $1.50. What? I immediately launched a protest in store. Those sweet ladies who work there had already heard it, and corporate gave them no resources to deal with customer’s inquiries. I hate that. These precious ladies are on the front lines with no ammunition.
Now I’m not saying I won’t still go to the DT. I’ll go, I just won’t be as happy about it, and I’ll have to increase my DT budget to a solid $25 per bag. I hate inflation. See y’all next week – on the porch!
