The Run for the Rosé raised $10,000 for Child Advocates of Fort Bend and brought more than 1,000 people into the community.
Sienna is raising a glass to another successful Run for the Rosé 5K, with this year’s event drawing 1,000 participants and supporters and raising $10,000 for Child Advocates of Fort Bend.
The chip-timed race was held April 11 at the Sawmill Lake Pavilion. It was the third year for the race and the second year for it to benefit Child Advocates of Fort Bend.
“It was a beautiful day and an enthusiastic crowd was ready to take to the streets of Sienna and then enjoy some post-race celebrations,” said Morghan Powell, Sienna Marketing Director. “The fact that it supports an essential Fort Bend non-profit makes the Run for the Rosé more meaningful and reflects Sienna’s deep ties to the surrounding community.”
Over the past two years, Sienna’s Run for the Rosé has donated $20,000 to Child Advocates of Fort Bend, a non-profit organization in its 34th year that serves child victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect. The local Child Advocates division has helped approximately 23,000 children through two nationally affiliated programs — Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC).
Eight hundred people raced, with the top finishers receiving cash prizes. Winning $100 for first place as the overall male winner was Nathaniel Hubenak. Bethany Leavens was the overall female finisher, also winning $100.
Earning $50 for their second-place finishes were Brittany Izzo and Demarcus Peterson. Melissa Poole-Dublin took third place for the women and won $25 as did Patrick Haynes who finished third for the men. Claire Kaminski won $25 as the first place stroller strider.
All racers received brunch bites at the finish line and those ages 21 and older also received a glass of rosé. Those not interested in racing were part of the No Way 5K Party Patrol, participating in after-race festivities with brunch and bubbly available for purchase from 7 to 11 a.m.
Alloy Personal Training led the pre-race warm-up. The after-race party included corn hole, hula hooping, massage chairs, vendor booths, DJ jams, photo ops, food trucks and more.
The Run for the Rosé 5K is one of many charitable events Sienna hosts throughout the year.
