IYKYK

As much as I like poetry, maybe this should be my new moniker?

I like poems.  I like alliteration.  I like to rhyme.  It’s just what I do.

Growing up, I wrote poems as invitations for my babies’ birthday parties.  They were memorable.  They were on theme.  They were cute.  At least I thought so, and that’s all that really matters, right?

Of course, there was that one year that I went a little overboard with baby girl’s “Little Mermaid” theme.  I thought it would be adorable to add to the envelopes – that I mailed – a little glittery “sand” and some pearlized seashells.  Turns out the United States Postal Service was not on board with that particular party favor.  They promptly returned all of the invitations to our mailbox – a week post party.  They were jealous they weren’t invited, I feel certain.

I began my foray into poem prose in elementary school.  I would write poems for Mother for all sorts of special occasions.  I’m sure she treasured them as much I did.  If she didn’t, she certainly never mentioned it.

I also like acronyms.  Lisa Ann and I spent much time coming up with acronyms for initiatives at Fort Bend Focus Magazine.  There were the JEWELS – Joyous, Extraordinary Women Enriching Lives.  Then came the GEMS – Generous, Enthusiastic Men Serving.  Some of my favorite peeps were crowned JEWELS and GEMS in honor of their service to our community, tiaras they wore proudly, and we were so proud of them.

I’m still on the acronym train.  I have several friends who call me PPK after adding Kaminski to my moniker some 32 years ago.

Just the other day I asked Mr. Kaminski to take a picture of my OOTD.  He looked me up and down trying to ascertain exactly which body part I was referring to.

“What exactly is that?” he questioned earnestly.  I admit, he looked a bit worried.  I bring that out in him, concern and all.

“My OOTD!  Take a picture.  It’s really cute today!” I impatiently replied.

With a look of utter confusion mixed with a smidge of fear, Mr. Kaminski gingerly replied.  “I’ll take a picture of it, but you have to show me where it is.”

“It’s. On. My. Body!  It’s my Outfit Of The Day.  Even Aubree knows what OOTD is and she’s only two years old.  Really?”

“Oh,” Mr. Kaminski exclaimed, letting out a big breath, that I presume he was holding.

He commenced with taking the picture.  I commenced with a huge eye roll in his direction uttering, “OMG!”

TTYL fam!  It’s BOGO time at the Clinique counter, which I often refer to as GWP – Gift With Purchase.  I definitely have FOMO for gifts and samples.  TBF, YOLO – ILU!  See y’all next week – OTP!
