The Power of Positivity

Powerful, positive memes to live by.

I personally believe the mind is a powerful tool.  Sure, I’m not the brightest bulb on the shelf, but I strongly feel that aligning your mindset with your goals aids in achieving them.  After all, if you walk around on the daily thinking negative thoughts, a cloud of negative results tends to surround and eventually engulf you.  Negativity begets negativity.  That’s just biblical.

As I begin navigating my twilight years – gulp – I’m often reminded of childhood lessons learned.  I mean, we all grew up reading about the Little Engine that could.  He thought he could, he thought he could, so he did!  I like that.  In my little mind, I approach life thinking I can do anything – and I have truly accomplished so much that has been out of my wheelhouse, so to speak, because I thought I could.  I mean, why not?  It’s been a roller coaster and an absolute blast.  It is indeed a mindset.

I remember Mawmaw’s words of wisdom well.  She was most encouraging, and I am certain as a precocious, spoiled, only child, I had to drive her mad.  Of course, I was her favorite.  See how that optimistic mindset thing works?  I was an avid reader as a child – still am – and I would regurgitate books I read to her, over, and over, and over.  She always listened with the patience of Job adding in her own two cents of encouragement or positivity along the way.  For having only a high school education, she was one of the smartest people I ever knew.

I truly believe Mawmaw’s attitude of optimism instilled in me from early on lives with me today.  I’m always half full as opposed to half empty.  I rarely have days when I don’t feel fabulous.  Just ask Mr. Kaminski.  I tell him how amazing I am all the time.  You know his memory is fading, so I’m certain he appreciates my subtle yet constant reminders of my own personal fabulousness.

When faced with adversity, I lean toward the sanguine.  “It could be so much worse,” is one of my standard mantras, and then I expound on the degree of severity a situation actually could have turned out but didn’t in loquacious detail.  It’s a gift.

So, porch sitters, I want y’all to go have an amazing week of incredible positivity and over the top fabulousness, because I know you can!  See y’all next week – on the porch!
