Rodeo Roundup

Hanging with the 2026 Saddle Winner for the Top Sparkling Wine – the Perrier-Jouet Blanc de Blanc Champagne crew.

It’s March, and in this neck of the woods, that means one thing: Rodeo Houston!  Of course, I remember back in the day when it was always the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, but in 1996, the annual event changed its name to Rodeo Houston as part of a rebranding effort.  Regardless of the name, it’s still the best time in town for nearly an entire month, and best of all, it supports our youth in their education endeavors – as well as so many local businesses.  Now that’s what I call a Grand Champion of an event!

This year I kicked off Rodeo Houston with one of my favorite events:  Roundup & Best Bites Competition or Rodeo Uncorked, as I fondly refer to it, mostly because Lisa Ann and I drink our way through the entire event.  Someone has to take one for the team; it might as well be us.  Of course, I just have to share some of my absolute favs.

Starting off strong, with bubbles, of course, was the 2026 Saddle Winner for the Top Sparkling Wine.  It was delightful and crisp and refreshing – everything a good champagne should be.  Perrier-Jouet Blanc de Blanc Champagne AOC, NV rode off with the winning saddle.  Give them a taste when you visit the Wine Garden.

The fun, fabulous “Fueled by Mimosas” Hash Kitchen chicks.

There are restaurants galore participating in Roundup & Best Bites, and I’m always on the hunt for fancy, fun and fabulous.  I found just that in Hash Kitchen.  These ladies, my new BFFs, are “Fueled by Mimosas.”  Aren’t we all?  With locations in Pearland and Webster, Hash Kitchen has The Brunch Life down.  They serve not only the brunch classics, but they have a Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar, and an assortment of to die for hashes.  From Boujee Biscuits to Billionaire’s Bacon, Hash Kitchen is the best of the best when it comes to brunching with the babes.

Cookies pretty enough to wear and good enough to eat from She She Treats.

My friends at She She Treats were there with the most amazing and delicious treats.  Best of all their cookies look like jewelry!  I’m talking turquoise squash blossoms, earrings and new this year, Rodeo Houston belt buckles – all edible and delish!  Shelley Pieri’s vision, born during the pandemic, is always evolving and always amazing.  Hit her up for your next major event.  You won’t be disappointed.

Rodeo Houston runs through March 22nd, and there’s really something for everyone at this family-friendly event.  Of course, my heart will always belong to the Roundup & Best Bites Competition, but no rodeo season would be complete without a stop or two at the Wine Garden and seeing some fabulous entertainment.  So, dust off those boots, porch sitters, and let’s Rodeo!  See y’all next week – on the porch!
