Porch Parcels

Lovin’ my new porch. Relocating to Green Acres hasn’t slowed this girl down one bit!

Since moving to Green Acres, on the porch has an entirely new meaning – and it’s a really good thing.  First and foremost, I have an amazing front porch perfect for people watching, pontificating and of course, porch sitting.

My porch has become my gateway to the world.  Now Mr. Kaminski thought relocating me out here with bovine, bees and various other beasts would keep me from my usual shenanigans.  Of course, that plan hasn’t panned out well for him.  I’m a bloom where I’m planted kinda girl.

You see, the best thing about my porch is that it’s covered, and that means the sweet delivery folks who are my new BFFs have a high and dry place to drop off the many packages I now receive there.  Plus, I can leave little treats for them on the porch, and they are protected from the elements. These cute couriers appreciate that.  You know the old saying: “If the mountain will not come to Muhammad…”  I just figured out other ways to move the mountain.  I’m nothing if not resourceful.

I suppose Mr. Kaminski thought a move to a small town with a population of 1,300 would curtail my bad habits: shopping, socializing, sipping.  He definitely thought it would keep me from making new friends – like at the Snowflake Donut Shop, the Dollar General and the nail salon just down the street.  Guess he thought the distance would slow me down on self-improvement activities, retail therapy, community involvement and such.  Silly man.  Heck, he came home just the other day to me with straight hair and multiple porch packages.  Gotta keep him on his toes.

I must confess I did worry about this rapid relocation situation.  I had a girlfriend a few years ago move out of our neighborhood to Boerne, and it was tragic.  She hated the entire experience of the new – new friends, new neighbors, new house, new grocery store.  She did not embrace the new, and it took quite a toll on her.  She may or may not still be married – or living there.  I should probably check on that.

But for now, I’ve got to run.  Just eight miles down the road is my fav – Dollar Tree.  And, of course, Beall’s, and I’m a reward member there.  Then there’s a wild game supper this weekend at the Knights of Columbus Hall, and I’ve got to buy my raffle tickets.   Plus, there’s Bingo on Thursdays, and I’ve already been invited.  See y’all next week – on the porch!
