OakBend Medical Center held a Thanksgiving Food Drive at its facilities and collected enough food to serve to eight families nominated by Jane Long Elementary School. OakBend’s Human Resource Director Nancy Retzlaff worked with Kimberly Zapata, a counselor at Jane Long, to come up with the nominated families that would receive the collected groceries.
OakBend employees filled up the donation boxes during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving with canned goods, dry goods and donations of cash to purchase additional items for the baskets. OakBend also worked with Tiffany Jackson, Marketing Director of Richmond Healthcare Center, to get baskets donated to be filled with the food items and turkeys that were delivered to the families November 21st.
“We are grateful for the generosity of our employees and staff. The eight families who received these baskets have a total of 50 people. It is heartwarming to see our staff giving back to our community,” said Retzlaff.
