Texas Master Naturalists Bird Hike

Join the Coastal Prairie Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists for a bird hike in Seabourne Creek Nature Park, located at 3831 Highway 36 South just past the Rosenberg Civic Center. Hikes usually last about two hours total. Participants should meet the hike leader in the lake parking lot by the restrooms to sign in and receive bird lists. Be sure to bring water, bug spray, binoculars and weather-appropriate clothing. Backyard Orchards: Winter Preparation

Learn how to help fruit and citrus survive the winter during a Master Gardeners’ Garden Talk at the Fort Bend Agri-Life Extension office, located at 1402 Band Road in Rosenberg. Walk through the demonstration gardens before or after the Garden Talk to visit with other Master Gardeners and ask questions about plants that will survive the winter. Visit www.fbmg.com.

A Simple Christmas

Enjoy an afternoon of family-friendly fun at the Brazos Bend State Park Nature Center, located at 21901 FM 762 in Needville. A special appearance from Santa will kick off the event, followed by activities such as face painting, Dutch oven cooking demonstrations and Victorian Era games. Hayrides will be given from 3 to 6 pm, and the Brazos River Pickers will perform from 5 to 7 pm. Bring a picnic supper to enjoy under the Christmas lights. New Year’s Eve Historical Bash and Meal

Prepare for the countdown with a historical mask-making and noisemaking craft, learn  the do’s and don’ts of “first-footing” and  bring your favorite baby doll as the “Baby New Year 2015” is crowned. The countdown takes place at noon at the George Ranch Historical Park’s Jones Stock Farm, followed by a special New Year’s Eve Meal at 12:30 pm in the George Yard.
