Lamar Consolidated Independent School District to Build 600-Seat Natatorium

Lamar Consolidated Natatorium Study – LCHS – Site Option 1.2. Lamar Consolidated Independent School District

At its November meeting, the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (LCISD) Board of Trustees approved a plan to build a 600-seat competition natatorium on the current site of the Lamar Consolidated High School baseball field. The Mustang baseball team will play in a new 315-seat stadium, located slightly north of the current location and across Mustang Avenue. The stadium sits on property the District already owns, bounded by Radio Lane, Herndon Drive and commercial development that faces Avenue H. The new baseball stadium will be ready by January 2014.

The new natatorium is scheduled for completion before the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. The Natatorium Master Plan team, comprised of Central Office administrators, representatives from LCISD’s facilities, maintenance and athletics departments, design consultants and the District’s program manager made the recommendation to the Trustees. The new design will provide 222 additional paved parking spaces for Traylor Stadium with room for additional parking. The construction of the new natatorium will be executed as part of the renovations to Traylor. Both projects were approved by voters in the 2011 bond program. Long-range plans call for practice pools for Foster, George Ranch and Fulshear high schools to be funded in future bond programs. The current LCISD Natatorium will serve as the practice pool for Terry High School.
