“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy. Fish are jumpin’ and the cotton is high.” – George Gerschwin
Amy Mitchell and Patti Parish-Kaminski at Fort Bend Junior Service League’s Spring Fling 2015.
In my opinion, Gerschwin got it right with his lyrics to Summertime, as they embody the true spirit of summer. Livin’ is a bit easier, and I, for one, am relieved to be finished with the hectic pace of the school year. Even though I don’t particularly enjoy the summer temperatures, I always welcome the more laid back pace of summer in Brazos.
For many brides, however, June is the busiest month of the year as it is often associated with weddings. In this issue, we share the special days of three blushing brides and their beaus, and they are simply beautiful.
Speaking of beautiful, read about Richmond’s Alexa Lake and her amazing horse Viper as this dynamic duo takes the rodeo world by storm. Both the sport – and the young lady – are beautiful to watch, and we wish them luck as they compete throughout the United States.
This month, we celebrate not only our grads, but our dads as well. If you are looking for a great gift idea for either, check out Things We Love for Dads & Grads on page 24. And, Happy Graduation to all of our seniors, and a very Happy Father’s Day to all of our Brazos dads!
Remember, summer is here – so take it easy!
Absolutely yours,
