Exclamation Points! – September 2014

Back to the Grind?

Fall has finally fallen – at least on the calendar – and I for one, couldn’t be more grateful. Yes, we all love the lazy, hazy days of summer, but I confess that by the first of August , I’m ready to fall back into a somewhat normal – if not more hectic – routine.

For many individuals, headaches are routine. I personally have a dear friend who has suffered from migraines for years.  Now, with Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital’s new Headache Center, there is a team of qualified professionals in Fort Bend who can help, and they are helping make a huge difference in the lives of so many. State-of-the-art medical treatment close to home is what Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is known for, and with their new center, they have once again hit the mark.

One routine event my family and I look forward to each fall is the Fort Bend County Fair. This year marks the 78th anniversary of the Fair, and this legendary community event has it all: events, rides, live entertainment, shopping, a wine room and bar-be-que. This year, the Fair awarded 47 scholarships to Fort Bend youth from the proceeds of last year’s event. That’s something to be proud of! I’ll certainly be stopping by the Fair this year. Look for me – and complimentary copies of absolutely! Brazos – in the Grapes on the Brazos Wine Room in Building W. I hope to see you there!

This past summer at absolutely! focus media has been anything but routine.  After working with Michael and Lisa Fredrickson for over five years growing, building, defining our four award-winning, monthly community magazines, over the summer I purchased the company and now serve as the publisher. It’s an exciting time for us all as Michael and Lisa pursue other interests, and absolutely! focus media is poised for continued growth and success. In fact, we recently won seven national awards and one local award for our magazines, and the best is yet to come.

Esteemed First Lady Jackie Kennedy said, “The only routine with me is no routine at all.” While I may crave some semblance of a routine, the First Lady’s words accurately describe my reality. My real routine is frankly, no routine at all.  Oh, well – keeps things interesting. Kind of like buying four magazines!

Absolutely! yours,

Patti Parish-Kaminski
