March 2014 • Editor’s POV

Tim and Patti Kaminski.

The March winds have blown in all kinds of activities in Brazos! We have been out and about at so many wonderful events, and we love seeing so many of our friends and neighbors! I must say that I personally have been overwhelmed by the warm wishes and congratulations pouring in from winning our three international marketing and communication awards. It’s definitely an exciting time for us here at absolutely! focus media as we have grown to publishing four monthly community magazines thanks to the support of our advertisers and readers. We’re making history and creating memories because of your support, and we sincerely thank you.

Speaking of history, this month we shine the spotlight on an historic event: the opening of the newly restored Fort Bend County Courthouse. This $5.8 million project that began in 2011 is finally complete, and this historic landmark will now be preserved for future generations to enjoy. Congratulations to County Judge Bob Hebert, his staff and the George Foundation for their steadfast efforts in preserving our history.

Preserving our history and memories is so important, and in our cover story, we introduce you to China Oiler whose business is preserving both memories and an art form of long ago:  quilting. China and her staff at CJ’s Quilt Shop in Richmond make beautiful memory quilts for clients, and they teach as well as provide a multitude of resources for anyone wanting to capture a special memory or learn how to quilt themselves.

Spring Break is this month, and we hope you all have a safe and fun time creating memories with your family and friends. We will see you out and about in Brazos!

 Absolutely! yours,
