Dr. Ivan N. Mefford, family medicine physician, has been named OakBend Medical Center’s 2013 Physician of the Year. The presentation was made at the annual physician party at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Joe Anzaldua.
The award is an honor given annually to one outstanding physician who possesses significant practice experience, compassion, kindness and sincerity that translate not only to their patients, but to their nurses and other staff members that work closely with them. The hospital received several nominations for the award. Colleagues, nurses and patients praised Dr. Mefford for his dedication, considerate manner and teamwork.
“Dr. Mefford is always professional. He shows that he cares for his patients as well as nursing staff. He is personable with patients and staff. He promotes OakBend Medical Center, has always been easy to approach and listens to his patient’s and staff’s concerns,” wrote a staff member at OakBend Medical Center.
Mefford received his medical degree at Duke University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at University of Texas – Memorial Family Practice, in Houston. Dr. Mefford served as Chief of the Medical Staff at OakBend Medical Center in 2004.
