Tickled Pink

Demonstrating my prowess to select the perfect pink. The winner? Priscilla Pink!

I guess you could say I’m a pink girl.  I like pink.  I wore a pink suit just the other day – something I’ve never done before – and received rave reviews.  Seems like the color suits me in my later life.

So, it was with much thought and consideration that I decided to paint my new office – you guessed it – pink.  Now this office will reside in our backyard.  It’s basically a “she shed” that I am turning into my office.  After officing out of our house for years post Covid, I decided having my own separate office space would be a treat.  A spot just for me to work, read, dream, write, sip, sparkle and have some private, quiet time.  The fact that said office requires a 20’ commute in a fenced in area that allows me to still don my jammies to work – also a plus.

My previous office was red, so there’s a precedent here for boldness.  Shocking, I know.  I did, however, think it prudent to run the pink project past Mr. Kaminski.  After all, a 12’ x 20’ building being erected in our backyard and then painted a rosy shade might be concerning to him.  He signed off on it, but yes, there was the tiniest of an eye roll.

“If that makes you happy, paint it pink,” was his genius reply.  Sometimes he’s so smart.

Last Saturday I convinced Mr. Kaminski to accompany me to the Lowe’s.  I hate the store; I hate the concept, so I needed moral support.  Plus, I had no idea where it was.  Our goal: To select the perfect shade of pink for my office.

Of course, at this point we were simply looking for the outside color.  Yes, the outside will be pink with white trim and a white metal roof.  Sounds adorable, right?

The company that I purchased the building from did not offer pink as a standard color.  Can you imagine?  So, you know I convinced them to bring the building in white then paint if for me on site since they could not accommodate my rosy whims – no extra charge.  All I had to do was provide the paint.  Winning!

Our foray into the vast unknown, also known as a home improvement store, went south pretty quick.  There was a virtual cornucopia of pinkish hues to select from.  Going in, I felt rather certain that I could walk in, pick my shade and walk out with five gallons of the perfect pink.  That didn’t quite work out.

I selected a handful of pretty pink palettes and returned home.  I promptly pasted all of the pinks on Mr. Kaminski’s shed to review options.  There was Sweety Pie, Oh So Pink, Lotus Flower, Pink Odyssey, In the Pink – just to name a few.  Who thinks of these names?  I want that job.

After two days of posting and pulling pinks on the building, reviewing at different times of the day and night to select the perfect pink, voila!  I made my selection.  Priscilla Pink is what I landed on, which I love because it reminds me of Elvis, who I also love.

Unfortunately, now I have to return to the loathsome Lowe’s and order Priscilla.  I know they’re going to pepper me with pink questions like mildew resistance, non-fading, glossy or non-glossy.  Maybe I can talk Mr. Kaminski into doing it for me. A girl can only take so much   See y’all next week – on the porch!
