The Honorable Pete Olson

By: The Honorable Pete Olson, Former Congressman, Texas Congressional District 22 and State Committee Member, The Fort Bend Business Coalition

On March 3, 2026, Texas House District 85 constituents will go to the polls to vote for their choice to represent their district for two more years in Austin. This important primary will determine who will appear on the ballot for the November 2026 election for both the Republican and Democratic parties.  With a proven track record and as a widely accepted and respected leader during the 89th legislative and special sessions, one choice is clear for the leadership of Texas House District 85:  Republican Representative Stan Kitzman.

The Fort Bend Business Coalition (FBBC) is dedicated to cultivating and supporting elected officials who understand and act on the needs of the business community by exercising common sense in making decisions and developing policies.  Having effective and experienced leadership focused on business is critical to the growth and prosperity of Texas. How does this vision translate to Representative Stan Kitzman?

Good Policies for Texas Business

Seeking his third term in office, Representative Kitzman has proven to support and author propositions that are good for Texas business.  Elected twice by his constituents, Representative Kitzman specifically supported propositions in the 89th legislative session supporting workforce growth and education via the Texas State Technical College System, prohibiting the imposition of a tax on the realized or unrealized capital gains of individual family estates or trusts, and prohibiting the legislature from enacting a law imposing an occupation tax on certain entities on securities transactions.

Proven, Trustworthy Leadership

Representative Kitzman is widely accepted by his peers, which equates to effective leadership.  During the last session, he was elected by his fellow members of the House of Representatives to serve as the Chairman of the Water Caucus, which monitors and safeguards water issues on a bi-cameral basis.  Additionally, Representative Kitzman was appointed as one of only five legislators who serve on the critical Sunset Commission, which reviews 20% of state agencies every two years to determine their exigency and efficacy.

Due to his proven standing with his peers, Representative Kitzman was named Article III Chairman of the powerful Appropriations Committee responsible for developing the House version of the state budget, and he was selected to serve on the Agriculture and Livestock Committee.  Additionally, Representative Kitzman was selected to serve on five Conference Committees responsible for meeting with Texas Senators to resolve differences between the Senate and the House on major pending legislation.  This appointment is akin to the House putting their best members on these Committees to represent them to negotiate legislation.  These committee members are the “all stars” in the Texas House, and Representative Kitzman is one of the brightest stars.

Protecting Texans

Representative Kitzman has a proven track record for protecting fellow Texans.  He supported Propositions that affirmed that parents are the primary decisions makers for their children and that a voter must be a United States citizen. He also supported Proposition 13, which increased the exemption of residence homesteads from ad valorem taxation by a school district.

Endorsements

Representative Kitzman has been recognized for his work on behalf of Texas House District 85 and endorsed for reelection by President Donald Trump, Governor Greg Abbott and Speaker of the House Dustin Burrows.  And now, the Fort Bend Business Coalition is proud to add our name to the list of endorsements for a man respected and recognized by his peers, a Texan who works hard for his constituents, a man who fights for Texans and Texas business every day:  State Representative Stan Kitzman, District 85.
