September-October 2017 – Exclamation Points!

Patti Parish-Kaminski.

Fall . . . Finally!

Fall is absolutely the best time of year in Fort Bend! We get a reprieve from the Texas temperatures, and the seasons brings so many of my favorite outdoor things – football, festivals, and of course, the Fair!

From Needville to Richmond, festivals abound this time of year. From the time our kids were very young, we always took them to local festivals. It’s the best in family-friendly entertainment, and you might just learn something along the way. One of our kids favorites was always Texian Market Days at the George Ranch. This year marks the 34th year of this annual event, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

This year’s 81st Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo is right around the corner, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy this year.  Grapes on the Brazos, the official wine bar at the Fair, has expanded its space and offerings, and the entertainment line up is stellar.  The rodeo features first class athletes and the exhibits, special events and livestock all add up to a great time.  Read all about what the Fair has to offer on page 17.  Best of all, proceeds from the Fair support Fort Bend youth. Now that’s a win-win!

Henry David Thoreau said,  “I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.”  Here’s to sitting on some pumpkins this fall and enjoying all of the outdoor activities that our community has to offer. And, of course, hook ‘em horns!

Absolutely yours,
