A Season of Celebrations

To say May and June are busy is definitely an understatement.  It’s a whirlwind time of year as we celebrate Mother’s Day, brides, grads and dads.  These events make us reflect on memories past and present of the loved ones we are celebrating.

As I have grown older, I realize how impactful our mothers are in our lives. From instilling the importance of family to nurturing and exemplifying what is unconditional love. Thanks to my mom for always supporting, encouraging and loving me.  One of my favorite quotes is by Jeremy Goldman: “Of all the gifts life has to offer, a loving mother is the greatest of them all.” So, this month I challenge you to celebrate moms – not just for Mother’s Day – but for the entire month of May! To help you start, check out Brunch Made Easy on page 28 for your special mom or dad.

Bridal season has arrived!  Many brides choose the months of May and June as their wedding date. In this issue, we take a look at some Brazos weddings, some beautiful brides and the latest trends for planning a wedding. See page 14 for Wedding Planning 101.

Also highlighted is the Pecan Grove Volunteer Fire Department (PGVFD). A real gem for the Pecan Grove area, PGVFD has a rich history of serving the Pecan Grove area and is committed to serving the entire community.  As a former first grade teacher at Austin Elementary, my students always looked forward to the Pecan Grove Fire Station visit. To find out more about PGVFD and their upcoming fundraising events, see page 27.

Let’s enjoy this whirlwind season together and celebrate the ones we love. I would like to wish moms a Happy Mother’s Day, dads a Happy Father’s Day and to all Brazos grads, congratulations on your achievements!

Absolutely yours,

Kay Garrett
