Coming Together

Ready or not, the beginning of a new school year is almost here. Where did the summer go? We’ll soon jump back into the routine of early mornings, busy schedules and full backpacks. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child, and our absolutely! Back to School section is here to help.

As we prepare for back to school, many are just recovering from – or even still facing – the aftermath of the Brazos River flooding. The June 2nd cresting not only made history but brought great loss for 50,000 Fort Bend residents. Nothing brings a community together like natural disasters, and as a result of this tragic event, 137 organizations joined together to meet the community’s needs. As you’ll find in our cover story, Brazos River Flood Recovery has lovingly used its resources to help one another and make a great difference. Thank you to Brazos River Flood Recovery and the exceptional volunteers who fully embraced Mother Teresa’s saying, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

Speaking of great things, there are some truly great events in the area this month, including the Downtown Stomp on Saturday, August 6th. The annual event kicks off the Fort Bend County Fair with an evening of shopping and wine tasting in Historic Downtown Rosenberg. All of the details are on page 10.

As always, absolutely! Brazos is out and about taking photos and visiting with our readers and advertisers to bring you what is important, new and relevant. We hope to see you around!

Best of luck to all of our students in the new school year. Stay focused, work hard and finish strong. Next summer will be here before we know it!

Absolutely! yours,
